CIGRE(Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques, International Council of Large Electric Systems) was founded in 1921 in Paris, France. In 2008, 5366 experts from 890 companies and 139 universities in 92 countries were active in CIGRE. Especially, through the activity of Study Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces consisting of electric power system planners, business leaders, system operators, manufacturers, engineers, researchers, policy makers, regulators, academics and many others, CIGRE leads technologies and IEC standards in the electric power and energy industry.
CIGRE Korea National Committee was established in 1979 and was admitted by CIGRE Head Office. During last 30 years for the development of Korean electric power industry and heavy industries, GIGRE KNC has played an important role to bridge global leading technologies, to construct national study committees for the technical exchange and cooperation among experts and the expansion of export markets.
In August 2008, CIGRE KNC has 127 individual members and 16 collective members, and has the technology and business network with expert groups from 92 countries.
